Beckie - Lead Vocals

Beckie has been Freeways lead female vocalist for a little over 2 years and has performed at many prestigious venues and gigs including Help for Heroes, Beverly Park and Blundells Ball now in its 11th year.

Before a 9-month spell in Australia in 2008, Beckie was in a male/ female duo called TQ2 performing in and around Devon and Cornwall venues including Holiday parks, clubs and Private functions, a personal highlight and honour gracing the same stage as the legend that is Chris Farlow.

Steve - Lead Vocalist / Lead Guitar

Steve first played with Freeway in 1991 when he was asked to help at a fund raising event. He soon became a full-time member bringing with them a wealth of experience gained from being in several other successful local bands.

Apart from solid guitar playing his main attributes has been his lead vocal abilities, fronting the band for 10 years before being joined by female vocalist. Dedication and commitment play a big part in Steve's character, not forgetting a sense of fun and the knowledge that the band always strive to entertain.
Steve - Keyboard / Guitar & Musical Director

Steve has been a member of Freeway for 18 years. Prior to Freeway Steve played in a local duo act for several years. He is a competent musician and his ability on both guitar and keyboards provide the band with some of the versatility needed to tackle both classic rock and pop covers and bang up to date chart hits.

During the bands regular rehearsal sessions Steve takes an active role supplying most of the lyric and music score needed to keep Freeway's set list full of fresh material. Steve joins with the other Freeway members in taking his role in the band very seriously, while having great fun on stage in this fantastic party band!

Stewart - Bass Player / Band Coordinator

Stewart originally formed Freeway with ex drummer Andy Perrin just over 20yrs ago, to play at a local Carnival Gig and as been playing bass for them every since. And he is very pleased to say he has seen Freeway transform into the professional outfit they are today. In between gigs Stewart's other responsibility is to deal with the bands bookings, check out venues’ arrival times etc, to make sure every gig we do is organised in the most professional way possible. Stewart first started playing bass way back in the late 60s early 70s. He played in local bands with LMD Entertainments (Lionel Digby) acting as their agent he was fortune enough to have played on the same bill as Hawkwind and Fleetwood Mac at the Torquay town hall.
Nigel - Drums and Backing Vocals

Nigel has been a drummer and involved in the music scene since he was a child. His first drum lessons came in 1966 at the age of 6, and then in 1968 he joined the school band.

Nigel's first gigs were in 1973 in local pubs and social clubs, playing in 3 and 4 piece bands. 1975 saw the formation of the Devon Youth Jazz Orchestra, of which Nigel was a founder member. At this time he also joined a big swing band and played in dance halls around the country. Highlights included playing in France and recording an LP record during the heatwave of 1976.

Nigel has worked with bands playing the Working Man's Clubs and the Holiday Camp Circuit. Some of the groups he has been involved in have made demo tapes and been featured on local radio. Having been brought up in the 1960's he has been heavily influenced by the Beatles. His drummer idols are Buddy Rich, Lois Bellson, Gene Krupa and a drummer from the Exeter area - Jim Newton - who showed him the ropes and how to play with feeling. Thanks Jim!

As well as being passionate about music from the big band era, he loves the 50's, 60's and 70's pop scene. Nigel gets especially sentimental over John, Paul, George and Ringo. Oh, and he also idolises the american singer/songwriter Brandi Carlile - her voice is just perfect.
