Lynsey - Lead Vocals

 Lynsey has been Freeway’s Lead Female Vocalist for more than two years and has performed at The Brixham Happening twice as well as many other prestigious gigs including Beverly Park. Lynsey Dart started singing at the age of five, she has been part of the Torquay operatic amateur dramatic society since she was sixteen and in 2002 won Gemini fm’s Torbay talent in which she went into the recording studio’s of Abbey road. She has also sung as a principal singer at Babbacombe Theatre in many of their variety shows. She trained at the Bristol Academy of Performing Arts, Which took her to Belarus to teach singing to many of the underprivileged children there. After graduating she moved back to Devon where she went on to play a principal role in Thoroughly Modern Millie at the Princess Theatre. You can also see Lynsey as the leading lady this July, in My Fair Lady at the Princess Theatre.


Steve Fry Lead Vocalist\Lead Guitar

 Steve first played with Freeway in 1991 when he was asked to help at a fund raising event.  He soon became a full-time member bringing with them a wealth of experience gained from being in several other successful local bands.  Apart from solid guitar playing his main attributes has been his lead vocal abilities, fronting the band for 10 years before being joined by female vocalist.  Dedication and commitment play a big part in Steve's character, not forgetting a sense of fun and the knowledge that the band always strive to entertain.

 

Steve Daniels - Keyboard/Guitar & Musical Director

Steve Daniels has been a member of Freeway for 18 years. Prior to Freeway Steve played in a local duo act for several years. He is a competent musician and his ability on both guitar and keyboards provide the band with some of the versatility needed to tackle both classic rock and pop covers and bang up to date chart hits.

During the bands regular rehearsal sessions Steve takes an active role supplying most of the lyric and music score needed to keep Freeway's set list full of fresh material.

Steve joins with the other Freeway members in taking his role in the band very seriously, while having great fun on stage in this fantastic party band!

 

Stewart - Bass Player/Band Coordinator

 		 Stewart original formed Freeway with ex drummer Andy Perrin just over 20yrs ago to play at a local Carnival Gig and as been playing bass for them every since and he is very pleased to say he has seen Freeway transform into a professional outfit they are today. In between gigs Stewart other responsibility is to deal with the bands bookings, check out venues’ arrival times etc, to make sure every gig we do is organiesd in the most professional way possible. Stewart first started playing bass way back in the late 60s early 70s he played in local bands with LMD Entertainments (Lionel Digby) acting as their agent he was fortune enough to have played on the same bill as Hawkwind and Fleetwood Mac at the Torquay town hall.

 

Andy - Drums & Backing Vocals

It was a sad day for the percussion industry when, in 1970, Andy bought his first drum kit. From that first tentative beginning his career has gone rapidly downhill, he sets himself very low targets and consistently fails to achieve them. No seriously, no more drummer jokes from now on. For the past 15 years Andy has occupied the drummer’s seat in Freeway, certainly the longest time he has spent in any band, which shows the level of musicianship and commitment needed to be a part of the most successful party band to come out of Torbay for a long time.

Andy has played with many well respected bands throughout his career. The first band he played in was formed in his student days at the then Torquay Tech, (now South Devon College) when he got together with other students to to form a highly successful, country, rock and blues band. This band went through several changes of line up and eventually ran its course. There then followed a change to playing drums in a top south Devon rock band, Sniper, which was the breeding ground for several top musicians in the area. When this period of his musical experience ended he tried a different type of music, playing in a trio, with residencies in both Exeter and Torquay. This was also very successful and enhanced his reputation on the music scene. He formed his own band in the early 80’s which ran for 8 years and played extensively through out the south of England. A spell with a top Exeter based show band in the late 80’s followed and resulted in him supporting such bands as The Searchers, Freddie and the Dreamers and Joe Brown...
